Gawnggan was an Ancestor of Gumbaynggirr Nation, she was a Clever Woman with great magic and wife to Yuludarla, our Ancestor Spirit. In Gumbaynggirr Language' Gawnggan' means 'Beautiful Woman' and this art is about the power and beauty of women as leaders in the community.

Lilly is a Gumbaynggirr Artists from Girrin-da (Corindi Beach), I have strong ancestral ties to the land and ocean, and this is what inspires my art and my work in the arts sector: Nature and connection to Country.
