Fire Wisdom Exhibition

Open to artists originating from, and residing in the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance footprint - Gumbaynggirr/Dunghutti/Biripi/Worimi - to join our ‘Cultural Revival; Celebrating Fire Wisdom’’ exhibition.

Drawing inspiration from this year’s NAIDOC theme ‘Keep the Fires Burning: Blak, Loud & Proud’’ - this exhibition is designed to accompany our month-long Cultural Revival Gathering, the ‘Cultural Revival; Celebrating Fire Wisdom’’.

Share your relationship with the element of fire, including ancestral connections, cultural yarns, personal and historical relationships or cultural burning practices.

The theme of fire can also be translated as transformation, coming through the fire to be reborn and regenerated on a personal or cultural level. It could also be interpreted as keeping the fire burning for cultural survival, strength and revival, including representing the warmth of family, community and connection to Country.

Artists are invited to explore this theme widely, both in interpretation and mediums. The Gallery can accommodate anything from paintings, weaving and cultural artefacts to installations.
