Laurel Swan (Foley) is a proud Gumbaynggirr woman. Her connection to Country and nature are constant inspiration for making art. From the freshwater of mountain streams and rivers, to saltwater of the beaches, and everything in between. For Laurel, the sounds of Country, the sights of Country, the healing of Country, all contribute to making art that reflects love of Country. 

Creating art gives Laurel a feeling of peace and connectedness that is maintained even when she is off-Country. 

"I have found my artistic niche on canvas, using a combination of dot and line painting technique with contemporary colour, shape and texturing in acrylics. I am now branching into new areas of cultural artistic expression through weaving and most recently ceramics".
