Children's Art Book Project

Showing June 22 - August 31 2024

The Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance Children’s Art Book Project’ is a creative and magical exploration of cultural stories by Aboriginal children across Worimi, Biripi/Birpai, Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr Country.

This exhibition was a collaborative effort, weaving stories from local Elders and artists with the fertile imaginations of Aboriginal children across 17 schools within the Saltwater Freshwater footprint.

The process of transforming shared yarns (stories) into artistic expression is an ancient and ongoing practice within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

A celebration of our future wisdom-keepers, the Children’s Art Book Project is dedicated to inspiring our young ones to cultivate and continue a deep love and reverence for art, culture, their Elders and Country.

This project is funded by the Australian Government through the Indigenous Languages and Art Program.
