Taking Back A Piece Of Time For Us

This is a series of acrylic on top of oil paintings, these oil paintings have been sourced from; op shops, estate sales, some gifted from family members garages, eBay or garage sales. They depict typical Australian scenes ( old farm homes, kids playing cricket in the street (all white children), stockmen on horses or old Queenslander homes) . I've added some of my magic to them and dotted over the sky, background or wrapping around the trees.

This series means a lot to me. The idea sparked when I saw one of the oil paintings in an op shop. I stood looking at it for a while and decided that I wanted to stamp my culture onto these pieces of history. By dotting over these pieces it feels as though I am correcting time or taking back a piece of time that was a very horrific period for my culture.


These pieces make me feel strong & proud and I hope the viewer can feel that when they look over these pieces.
